We have all heard the message to limit the fat intake within our diets - leading to the explosion of "fat-free" and "low-fat" products in recent years. Yet, many are questioning why it has not contributed to a reduction in our weight. Oil and fat products have created a great deal of confusion - what is good and what is bad? The terminology is complicated and sometimes the messages seem inconsistent!

There are two groups of essential fatty acids that are important for good health: Omega-3 and Omega-6, particularly in the right balance between the two. These essential fatty acids, required by the body, must be provided through our diet. Omega-6 exists in abundance in the polyunsaturated oils that are a staple of many diets. However, the Omega-3 family of essential fatty acids, a beneficial and critical group of special fats, is generally under-represented in our diets, tipping the scales of the desired, healthy balance. Scientists and medical researchers recommend striving for equality between Omega-6 and Omega-3 oils. But how can we get the additional Omega-3 oils into our diets?

Omega-3 oils exist in fish and flaxseed products. The Omega variety of flaxseed contains high levels of these desirable Omega-3 oils along with a pleasant nutty flavor - superior to the typical flaxseed available in health food stores. A regular diet supplement of MAGCO Dakota Flax™ is an easy way to assure that we are obtaining the maximum Omega-3 health benefits.
